Are Cyanobacterial Blooms Common in the Coastal Waters of Alaska?

In 2019 the Native Village of Kotzebue partnered with Ajit Subramaniam of Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory to use satellite imagery to identify cyanobacteria blooms in the waters around Kotzebue.  Graduate student Anindita Das at Barnard College undertook the majority of the analysis and presented findings at the 2020 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union.
