JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Energy Project Manager or his/her designee, the Energy Project Specialist will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient economic development operations of the Energy Program. Carries out administrative duties in grant-writing, clerical, and support services to the Energy Project Manager and Special Projects Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the planning and execution of economic development priorities and objectives;
- General support for the project team as needed with various day to day tasks;
- Participation in project team meetings as appropriate;
- Developing relationships and working closely with various stakeholders, university staff, state and federal agencies and other organizations;
- Assist with grant writing by coordinating and engaging with grant writers;
- Maintaining positive customer, employee and public relations;
- Assures confidentiality and professionalism;
- Organizes, develops and maintains files and records;
- Provides clerical support, including but not limited to data entry, typing, copying, and faxing;
- Other duties as assigned;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check. No prior convictions of child abuse, family violence, or other convictions that would affect the performance with state and federal agencies.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with state and federal agencies, stakeholders and local organizations.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate, both orally and written, including the ability to analyze information in a logical, sequential manner, and to make presentations of findings.
- Familiarity with grant reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of office administration and word processing, data entry and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of the lifestyles and culture of the people of Kotzebue and the Northwest Arctic.
